Schalk-Willem Joubert left Wellington over 60 years ago for the Tradouw Valley to farm mainly with fruit and wine grapes. His son, Jacobus Joubert, realised the potential of growing premium grape cultivars to produce wine. Today, that task has fallen to Jacobus's son, Meyer, who moved to the farm in 1995 with wife Beate. Together, the winery has become a destination for its restaurant and farmstay as much as the wine. It is also famous as the home as the wine branded R62, after the road and popular country meander.
