A stately Cape Dutch homestead that dates to 1818 is the jewel in the crown of this winery in the Robertson Wine Valley. Surrounding it, the vineyards are exposed to long days in summer and low rainfall in the growing season supplemented by computerised drip irrigation. Night harvesting was introduced in 1986, to keep the fruit cool and in best condition for vinification. The Bruwer family has farmed here for three generations and trace their ancestry to France’s Loire Valley. Today, the vineyards and wines are tended by Andre Bruwer and his sons, Jacques and Pieter.
