The 23ha wine farm on the Bonte River is a red wine specialist famous as the maker of Rooibos-wooded wines where no sulphur has been added. Its name was derived from the goal of audacious viticulture and winemaking, as set up by the former owner Kosie Louw. Audacia was sold in 1996 to the Strydom family, with the Harris family becoming partners in 2002. It was in 2014 that the trademarked process to use indigenous South African plant tannins to preserve wine naturally - without the need to add sulphur as a preservative in the wine making process - came into being.
