What’s new on the Constantia Wine Route?

The Constantia Wine Route is known all around the world for being the oldest wine region in South Africa. And although this classic wine destination has a rich heritage with deep roots, it is continuously evolving – adding new wines, exciting experiences and special offers to keep visitors coming back for more.

Here are some of the latest happenings on the Constantia Wine Route:

Snap a pic at the new Mastercard frames

If it’s not on social media, it didn’t happen right? Thanks to Mastercard and the Constantia Wine Route, you can now share your love for your favourite wine farms by taking a pic with their new life-size photo frames. You will find the branded frames at most wine farms in the Southern Suburbs, perfectly positioned to ensure that you have a beautiful backdrop as you pose, pout or smile for your selfie. #loveconstantia

New head chef and winter menu at Constantia Glen

Constantia Glen has recently welcomed Johann Roux as their new head chef – just in time to introduce a hearty new winter menu. He has more than 20 years of experience and will be adding his own flair to the already popular dishes.

Constantia Glen has also launched their Winter Winemaker Dinners that will be hosted by Johann and winemaker, Justin van Wyk. Join them on the first Friday of every month to pair five gourmet courses with highly sought-after vintages at R1150 per person.

Sip, spa or stay at Steenberg Farm

To ensure that you make the most of the cosy winter season in Cape Town – Steenberg Farm is offering a range of special offers.

Their Five Lives Winter Package is the perfect luxurious winter break-away for you and your loved one. It includes accommodation in the five-star Steenberg Hotel and Spa, a massage, breakfast, a bottle of wine, dinner and a wine tasting at R5880 per couple sharing – valid until 31 August 2022.

The farm’s stylish Bistro Sixteen82 restaurant is once again hosting their popular Red Wine Rendezvous dinner series this year, where you can enjoy a three course meal served with a variety of delicious Steenberg red wines at only R495 per person.

La Colombe Winter Lunch Special

Currently rated as the 13th best fine dining restaurant in the world by TripAdvisor, La Colombe at Silvermist Estate has earned its right to be on your bucket list.

It is a premium culinary experience though, so a smart move would be to use their winter lunch special to tick it off your list.

During the week you can enjoy their reduced tasting menu (consisting of more than 10 delectable tasting items) for R895 per person, and over weekends it’s R1295 per person.

Plat du Jour at Klein Constantia

Book a table at The Bistro at Klein Constantia where each of their chefs will take turns to create a special winter meal, served as the Plat du Jour (special dish of the day) for the week.

Expect gourmet food made with fresh, seasonal ingredients (like Osso Bucco and Coq Au Vin) served with a carafe of wine for a winter special price of R250 per person.

Four and Twenty now also at Constantia Uitsig

Towards the end of last year, the beloved local café and deli, Four and Twenty, opened another store at the Heritage Market at Constantia Uitsig

The original store in Chelsea Village has become a treasured Cape Town gathering place over the years, and its sister-outlet is offering the same quality freshly baked pastries, delicious cappuccinos and delicious food.

First Thursdays at Simon’s restaurant

Once a month, many restaurants, shops and galleries in Cape Town and Johannesburg stay open until late for First Thursdays. In the city centre, you can walk between shops and soak up the festive vibe – but did you know that you can also enjoy First Thursdays on a wine farm?

Simon’s restaurant at Groot Constantia is joining in on the fun by hosting live music, menu specials, great wine and a roaring fire to keep everyone warm and in good spirits.

New Constantia Itineraries

What does your ideal day in Constantia look like? Packed with adventure, or do you prefer lingering at art galleries? Perhaps you’re more of a foodie, or would love to relax at a spa?
