It all begins in the vineyard from where Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes are sourced, the traditional varieties that have over centuries proven them to be the only grapes suitable for creating sparkling wines of excellence.

Cap Classique is a complex product, demanding the blending of the finest cuvées made from grapes grown on terroirs and sites each allowing an expression of uniqueness and individuality in fruit quality and wine structure. To ensure the cellarmaster has the correct palette to practise his craft, Le Lude has planted vineyards on a selection diverse terroirs and sources grapes from sites best suited to optimum fruit character.

This intriguing spread of grape offerings allows Le Lude to combine a variety of diverse and complementary components to ensure that the varied offering results in a style of wine that reflects the individual personality of Le Lude and the Barrow family.

"Along with formal training in Europe, Chef Nicolene Barrow worked at the world-famous Le Gavroche Restaurant in London before setting-up Orangerie at Le Lude. Here classical French cuisine is presented with a contemporary twist; the purist, disciplined approach of the European masters combined with a hint of individual, modern creativity where what is on the plate is presented looking as good as it tastes.

A seasonal menu offers the finest, freshest ingredients found in the forests, meadows, mountains and seas of the Cape, resulting in a selection of dishes offered in an environment conducive to making permanent Franschhoek memories."
