La Motte Wine Estate

The 300-year-old La Motte estate is situated just outside the town of Franschhoek in South Africa's Cape winelands. Owned by Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg and managed by her husband Hein Koegelenberg, La Motte combines centuries of wine-making expertise with the latest vineyard and cellar technology to produce wines of the highest quality, as attested by multiple international awards. In recent years, La Motte has expanded into wine tourism with an acclaimed offering.

Please note that we are busy with renovations. Currently, only the La Motte Bakery & Garden Café (casual), JAN Franschhoek (fine dining) as well as the Wine Tasting Room are open. We look forward to welcoming you into our beautiful gardens, but please note that it is a limited experience.

Bakery & Garden Café: The charming day-time bakery and garden café celebrates bread in all its original beauty with a wonderful daily variety of freshly-baked options from the on-site wood-fired oven, available to purchase and take home while they also form the basis of the delicious seasonal menu. Enjoy beautiful breakfasts, moreish lunchtime options and tempting patisserie. Share in the delight of simple pleasures such as freshly brewed coffee and artisan bakes, just out of the oven. Join us for breakfast, brunch or lunch or stay for afternoon drinks.
Other than enjoying the serene gardens or a relaxed meal, guests can buy bread and patisserie to take home, browse a selection of lifestyle items and gifts or opt for a wine tasting experience in the Historic Cellar next door.

JAN Franschhoek: JAN Franschhoek is an exceptional food and wine experience presented from a charming historic cottage, the Veepos, right in the middle of the Franschhoek Valley’s most picturesque lavender fields. This seasonal food and wine experience combines the nostalgia of a South African family table with Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen’s Michelin-star culinary innovation and promises to be just as popular as the first season.
