The name Arabella is derived from the beautiful Arabian horse - farm owner Stephen de Wet and his son, Jamie, are both keen endurance riders. History as it relates to the family, however, goes back to 1693 when the first De Wet arrived on these shores. Many decades later, a descendant came to own a large property on the Cogmanskloof River. Arabella is part of this historic farm. Vines have been grown for some time, but in 2006 a new cellar, bottling hall and tasting room were added. The main varieties on the farm are Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Pinotage, Viognier and Chardonnay.
